My name is Huy Thien Tan Nguyen.  I am majoring Health Science at Clemson University concentrating in Healthcare Service Administration.  I am current a senior and anticipating to graduate in December 2006.  I original enter Clemson as an engineering major, but after finishing my first semester of sophomore year, I realize that engineering is not for me and health science is appealing to my career interest.  I choose health science because I always wanted to be a professional in the healthcare industry.  Even though I preferred health profession over engineer, but I was uncertain about my preferred type of health profession.  I chose the pre-professional studies track in health science so I can be prepared for any professional health careers.  But after one semester in health science, I narrow my career choice to health service administration.  As an administrator, I can help to make our healthcare system better by solving the high cost and limiting access issue.  Another aspect in administrative profession that I enjoy most is management.  I will have an opportunity to manage people, including myself, to be more efficient and effective in our works.

The internship at Clemson Health Center has helped me grown personally and professionally.  Personally, I have learned to be firm in my decision making process.  I also gain self management and organization skills by being multitask.  Professionally, I learned about business ethics and interpersonal skills.  It is difficult to maintain the best personality sometimes at the workplace, but being in calm in every situation, I probably have made someone to have a better day.  And communicating effectively is the key to success in every workplace.

I believe in the Golden Rule: treat others as how I want to be treated.  I believe in walking the talk because I think successful people only succeed when they actually do what they said.  Even though people are unique and different, I believe that there are good deeds in every person.  Because of that, I respect people for their decisions and have faith that people would bring out the good deeds in them.  Honesty is important to my works and my beliefs.  I want to live a life that is transparent to the world.  I am willing to admit my weaknesses and strengths, and I do not want to hide or runaway from my mistakes because mistakes are lessons that teach me how to become successful.
